Alan Leslie Fennell was born in Colchester, Essex, on 10 December 1936. In the 1950s he co-edited Cowboy Picture Library with Angus Allan. He is perhaps best known for his work with Gerry Anderson's puppet series: He wrote episodes of Fireball XL5, Stingray and Thunderbirds for TV, edited TV Century 21, and wrote comic strip versions of many of Anderson's creations for that title and for Lady Penelope. He also wrote "Doctor Who" for TV Comic. He founded Look-In and edited it from 1971 to 1975. In 1991 he edited a new title, Thunderbirds the Comic, for Fleetway. He died on his 65th birthday, 10 December 2001, in Maidstone, Kent.
