Albert Edgar Beard, born in Birmingham on 16 January 1902, attended Birmingham School of Art and studied under Percy Bradshaw. He drew cartoons and comic strips for numerous publications, including the regular family strip "The Gaisby-Knights" for Tit-Bits. He died in Newbury, Berkshire, in May 1991.
