Just Jake, Daily Mirror, 1938-51

Bernard Joseph A Graddon was born in the first quarter of 1905 in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, son of Joseph Augustus Graddon, a butcher, and his wife Margaret Jane, née Jones. He married Irish F. Phillips in Swansea in 1939. He created the strip Just Jake, which ran in the Daily Mirror from 1938 until his death, in Weston-Super-Mare in the first quarter of 1951, aged 46.
