Comic Cuts issue 1, 1890

Comic Cuts was one of Britain's earliest weekly comic papers, published by Alfred Harmsworth, later Amalgamated Press, from 17 May 1890. The early issues contained reprinted cartoons from American magazines, but advertised for artists, and the reprints gave way to original material by artists like Roland Hill, Oliver Veal, Tom Browne and Jack Butler Yeats. It absorbed Golden Penny Comic (1928), Jolly Comic (1939) and Larks (1940), and was merged into Knockout on 12 September 1953.
