Corporal Clott (real name: Clarence Clott) was a comic strip published in The Dandy, beginning in issue 990. The strip revolved around an inept soldier, Clott, and his clumsy misadventures in the army. The strip was initially drawn by Davy Law between 1960 and 1970. It is currently drawn by Nigel Auchterlounie in The Dandy Annual.
As part of the modernisation of The Dandy in 1960, a few new characters were introduced, including Corporal Clott. It was drawn by Davy Law from its beginning in 1960 until 1970 (Issue 1496). After that, Jimmy Hughes took over the strip but it was eventually discontinued in the mid-1970s. The strip was briefly revived in 1987 but later dropped. However, Corporal Clott did have a few Dandy Comic Libraries devoted to him.
In 2012, Clott returned toThe Dandy, now drawn by Nigel Auchterlounie. It was also printed in The Dandy's Last Ever Issue and appeared in the short-lived Digital Dandy. Clott currently makes appearances in The Dandy Annual every year, still drawn by Nigel Auchterlounie.
