Deadline was a comic magazine published from 1988 to 1995 by Deadline Publications (known as Cardrest Ltd. before the mag's second issue). Lasting for 69 issues - published on a quasi-monthly, 11-a-year basis - it is best known for introducing the character Tank Girl.
Created by Brett Ewins and Steve Dillon Deadline was first published in October 1988.[1] In 1991 Dark Hiorse began publishing a US edition.[2]
The "Tank Girl" strip became popular enough to spawn a film, released in 1995. This was not well received and its commercial underperformance was a factor in Deadline's death in 1995.[3]
Strips included...
- "Beryl the Bitch"
- "Cheeky Wee Budgie Boy" (Phillip Bond)
- "Hugo Tate" (Nick Abadiz)
- "Johnny Nemo" (Brett Ewin)
