Frank Rudolphe C. Newnham was born in Ryde on the Isle of Wight on 31 May 1891, the son of a postman. His artistic career was underway by 1909, when he contributed illustrations to The Captain. He also worked for George Newnes' Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories, and in the thirties for C. Arthur Pearson's annual comics, including "Boxing Day" (1937) for The Christmas Holiday Comic, "The Picnic Wasn't Upset" (1938) for The Summer Comic, and "Five Little Ducks" (1939) for The Holiday Comic. In 1956 he contributed to Swift annual. He also illustrated books. From the late 1930s to the late '60s he lived at various addresses in London. He died in Enfield in the first quarter of 1977.
