Gweneth A. Tourret was born in Hendon, Middlesex, in the fourth quarter of 1931, the second of four daughters of Gaston Tourret and his wife Phyllis, née Evans. She was educated at Harrow Art School, and joined an art studio for four years before becoming a freelance illustrator. Most of her work has been in children's books, but she has also drawn for British girls' comics like Girl and Boyfriend in the early 1960s. Her sisters Pat and Shirley were also illustrators and comics artists.
