Garth by John Allard

John Allard (b. c. 1928 - 7th November 2018) assisted Stephen P. Dowling on the science fiction strip Garth from shortly before its launch in 1943, drawing backgrounds and inking while studying at St Martin's School of Art. After Dowling retired he drew the strip solo from 1968 to 1971. From 1971, when Frank Bellamy took over as artist, he became one of the strip's writers. He became cartoons editor of the Daily Mirror in 1986, and created the football strip Scorer. He retired in 1992.
