"The Jellymen", The Beezer, 1960

Kenneth Benjamin Hunter was born c. 1916.[1] He had a long career as an artist for DC Thomson, mainly drawing light-hearted fantasy adventure strips for their humour titles, from the 1950s to the '80s. Strips he worked on included: "Wee Davie and the Great Big Giant" (1952-57) for The Beano; "Big Fat Boko" (1953-67), "Jeff and Bill Star in the kingdom of Zero" (1957-61), "Big Chief Running Chump" (1957-69), "Sir Laughalot" (1958-64), "Billy Benn's Den" (1964-66), "Jingo the Jester" (1970), "Big X, the Bluffer from Planet E" (1971), "Pickles Thickles" (1971), "Danny's Tranny" (1972-86), "The Wonderful World of Sidney" (1976), "The Mini-Martin" (1979) and "Stan and Oily, the Runaway Robots" (1986-88) for The Topper; "Buster's Battling Beetle" (1956) and "My Pal Baggy Pants" (1956-59) for The Dandy; and "Mick on the Moon" (1956-57), "The Survivors" (1959), "The Jellymen" (1960-65), "Mr. Flippy" (1967-69), "Barney's Barmy Army" (1971-73) and "Mr. Licko and His Lollipops" (1978-81) for The Beezer. He also worked in girls' comics, as well as boys' adventure comics like The Hotspur. His last work before he retired was for the 1990 Topper Book. He died in Arbroath on 20 October 2008, aged 92.
