Playbox was the name of two nursery comics published by Alfred Harmsworth and the Amalgamated Press.
First series[]
The first series was published by Harmsworth, pre-AP, beginning on 19 October 1898. It lasted until at least 1909, when Mabel Lucie Attwell first drew for it. Strips included "The Little Sparrowkins" and "Jungle Jinks", both drawn by Mabel F. Taylor. Other artists who worked for it include Julius Stafford Baker and S. J. Cash.
Second series[]
The second series was launched by the Amalgamated Press on 14 February 1925, as a relaunch of Jungle Jinks. It ran until 11 June 1955, after which it was merged into Jack and Jill.
