Primrose Amy Cumming was born in the Isle of Thanet, Kent, on 7 April 1915. She started writing as a child, had her first story published in Nursery World at the age of 16, and published her first book, Doney, at 19. She wrote many children's books, mostly on the subject of horses and ponies, from the 1930s to the 1960s. She also wrote comic strips for DC Thomson and IPC's girls' titles, including including "Bella at the Bar" for Tammy. She died in Kent in August 2004.
