Parody superhero created by David Haldane, appearing in Oink! between 1986 and 1988.
Brought to Earth as a baby from the planet Pongovia, Rubbish Man adopted the alter-ego of mild-mannered Jimmy Bung, but at the call to action would leap into a dustbin and don his Rubbish Man costume, ready to defeat his enemies with a mixture of trash, bad smells and comic ineptitude. He later gained a sidekick named Boy Blunder, who tagged along without actually offering much assistance. He was also friends with a number of other not-so-"super"-heroes such as Snail Man and Captain Hatstand.
A mainstay of Oink! throughout 1986-7, Rubbish Man was dropped when the comic went weekly at the start of 1988, but made a comeback in the penultimate issue (#67, October 1988) and appeared in the 1989 Oink! Book and subsequent holiday specials.
