Sidsnake

"Sid's Snake" was a strip that ran in Whizzer and Chips from the first issue onwards, drawn by Mike Lacey, later moving to Buster when the comics merged. It starred a boy named Sid and his pet snake, Slippy; Slippy was unnable to talk (although, like Garfield and Snoopy, he had visible thought balloons), and communicated with Sid by mime. Most of the storylines dealt with Slippy's various contortions as he became a hula hoop, a swing and so forth.

Although originally part of the Chips segment of the comic, Sid and Slippy became established as the main characters of the Whizzer portion.[1]
