Hotspur

The Hotspur was a weekly periodical published by DC Thomson from 1933 to 1981. In its original incarnation it contained text stories but no comic strips; comics did not appear until 1959, when the paper was renamed New Hotspur. In 1963 the title returned to The Hotspur.[1]

Amongst the text stories was "The Boyhood of Desperate Dan".[2]

In 1976 Hornet merged into The Hotspur; in 1980 The Crunch followed.[3] In early 1981 The Hotspur merged into Victor, although Hotspur annuals were still published until 1991.[4]

Features included...

  • "Danny Boyd"
  • "The Mantracker" (from The Crunch)
  • "The Menace from Moon Crater"
  • "Starhawk" (from The Crunch)
