Valerie Hastings was born on 14 February, 1902. She wrote scripts for intrepid schoolgirl series "Wendy and Jinx" in Girl in the 1950s, episodes of which were also written by her husband Michael Hastings. She also wrote two spin-off novels, Wendy and Jinx and the Dutch Stamp Mystery (1956) and Wendy and Jinx and the Missing Scientist (1957), and a number of other children's novels. She died in Hailsham, Sussex, in the third quarter of 1975.
